How it Works

A magnifying device is used to examine the cervix after applying a special solution to highlight abnormal cells. A biopsy may be taken if needed.

How We Do It

Performed in-clinic by a gynecologist.

Side Effects

Mild cramping, spotting, or discharge, especially if a biopsy is taken.

Time to Full Effect

Healing is usually quick; biopsy results take 1–2 weeks.

Is it painful?

It may cause mild discomfort, especially during biopsy.

Will I need time off after?

Not usually, but avoid strenuous activity or intercourse for 24–48 hours if biopsy is done.

Why was I referred for this?

Likely due to an abnormal Pap smear or HPV result.

Can I get results the same day?

Visual impressions are immediate; biopsy results take longer.

Can I do this during my period?

It’s best to schedule outside of your menstrual cycle for results clarity.
