The DUTCH (Dried Urine Test for Comprehensive Hormones) test measures hormone levels and metabolites using urine collected on filter paper and saliva samples.
It provides insight into production, metabolism, and balance of key hormones — giving a more detailed picture than standard blood or saliva tests.
Dutch Tests
At EV Clinic Dubai we offer a variety of DUTCH (Dried Urine Test for Comprehensive Hormones) Tests.
What is the DUTCH Complete™?
DUTCH COMPLETE takes hormone testing to a whole new level. This test looks at sex hormones and their metabolites, cortisol, nutritional deficiencies, oxidative stress, gut dysbiosis, melatonin, neuroinflammation and more. Ideal for assessment of hormonal imbalance, suggested for patients with PCOS,abnormal uterine bleeding , weight gain , mood swings . hair loss , fatigue, those trying to conceive, menopausal, or patients currently on hormonal therapy for personalized hormones optimization.
Results include:
- Analysis of 35 different hormones: estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, DHEA-S, and cortisol along with their metabolites.
- Oestrogen metabolism in regards to unfavorable pathways and the possible link to risk of breast cancer.
- Daily free cortisol patterns to provide insight into adrenal insufficiency or symptoms of chronic stress.
This test is recommended when you are looking for information about:
- Sex hormones (estrogens, progesterone, testosterone) production and metabolic patterns
- Adrenal hormones (DHEA and cortisol) production and metabolic patterns
- Diurnal free cortisol and cortisone patterns
- Melatonin production through the night
- Micronutrient availability and oxidative stress (targeted organic acids panel)
What is the DUTCH Plus™?
in addition to Dutch Complete, Dutch Plus unlocks the Cortisol Awaking Response. This can help address adrenal -related symptoms such as: morning or constant fatigue, insomnia, chronic fatigue, depression, anxiety upon waking, high-stress lifestyle, and loss of resiliency.
The DUTCH Plus provides a more detailed picture of adrenal function and how the body reacts to stress throughout the day, making it especially useful for those with stress-related issues or suspected HPA axis dysfunction. The test also offers further insight by including organic acid testing, which evaluates potential nutritional deficiencies, oxidative stress, gut dysbiosis, melatonin levels, and neuroinflammation.
Results include:
- Analysis of 5 key sex and adrenal hormones (estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, DHEA-S, cortisol) including their metabolites, plus 35 analytes.
- Graphical representation of results and embedded video tutorials to assist providers in the hormone assessment.
- DUTCH OATs: Melatonin (6OHMS), 8-Hydroxy-2-deoxyguanosine (8-OHdG), and six organic acid tests (OATs) including markers for vitamin B12 (methylmalonate), vitamin B6 (xanthurenate), kynurenate, glutathione (pyroglutamate), dopamine (homovanillate), norepinephrine/epinephrine (vanilmandelate).
When is the DUTCH Plus™ recommended?
In addition to everything offered in the DUTCH Complete, the DUTCH Plus provides the Cortisol Awakening Response (CAR). This can help address adrenal-related symptoms such as:
- Fatigue (especially on waking)
- Insomnia
- Chronic fatigue
- Depression or anxiety (especially on waking)
- High-stress lifestyle
- Loss of resiliency
DUTCH CYCLE MAPPING: provides a detailed analysis of hormone levels throughout your menstrual cycle using urine samples. This test helps identify hormonal imbalances and guides personalized treatment plans for issues like irregular cycles, PMS, and fertility problems. It’s a comprehensive tool for understanding your hormonal health.
What is the DUTCH Cycle Mapping™?
For some women, testing reproductive hormones like progesterone and estrogen on a single day can provide sufficient information. However, to receive a complete and accurate picture, it’s often necessary to map hormone levels throughout the entire menstrual cycle.
Typically, hormone levels follow a pattern:
Estrogen is low at the start of the cycle, rises around ovulation, and then decreases in the luteal phase, otherwise known as the latter part of the cycle.
Progesterone remains low until after ovulation, when it ideally increases significantly (>10-fold) and then decreases during the luteal phase.
The DUTCH Cycle Mapping test helps comprehensively diagnose and address many underlying problems.
*This test is not intended for women on hormonal birth control.
Results include:
- Nine (9) targeted estrogen and progesterone measurements taken throughout the cycle to characterize the follicular, ovulatory and luteal phases.
- Graphical representation of results .
- *DUTCH Cycle Mapping™ can also be combined with the DUTCH Complete™ for an even more comprehensive hormone panel.
When is the DUTCH Cycle Mapping™ recommended?
The DUTCH Cycle Mapping test is recommended for:
- Infertility
- Cycling hormones and no menses
- Partial hysterectomy (ovaries intact but no uterus)
- Ablations
- Irregular cycles
- Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)
- Month-to-month luteal phase shifts
- Testing questions due to long or short cycles
- Symptom fluctuations throughout a cycle
- PMS, mid-cycle spotting, migraines, and more
Area(s)
Hormonal health — assesses adrenal and sex hormone function, their metabolites, and other biomarkers using dried urine and saliva samples.
Duration
The test itself spans 24 hours, during which 4–5 urine samples are collected.
Results are typically available within 2–3 weeks.
Frequency
Recommended once or twice a year, or as advised by your functional medicine provider. Often used:
- When starting hormone therapy
- During perimenopause/menopause
- When investigating hormone levels and impact on health.
What to Expect
How it Works

- You receive a test kit at home or at the clinic.
- Collect urine +/- saliva on special strips at specific times of the day.
- We ship the sample to the lab .
- Once we receive the results, Dr. Anna Sepiolo will analyze them and prepare a personalized treatment plan (including lifestyle, nutrition, or BHRT if needed).
Side Effects
None. The test is completely non-invasive and safe.
Time to Full Effect
